Historically the Dogon are composed of many bloodlines that have been authorized by the divine world to preserve, protect, and maintain aspects of spiritual, astronomical, and philosophical knowledge that pertains to all of humanity. The Dogon, contrary to popular belief, are not just a small tribe that live in the cliffs of Mali. The Dogon are composed of many different bloodlines that represent the elite of the Pharaonic society. The initiation of the Dogon is what western academia refers to as “secret societies” or even “mystery schools”. The Dogon once lived in the Hapi (Nile) Valley region, but they migrated inland during the invasions around 400 BC in order to preserve the integrity of the initiatic knowledge.
Today the Dogon live in many countries in West Africa. They are seen as the Kemetic people who, during the times of invasion, migrated across the territories known today as Sudan, Chad, and Niger, currently settling around the buckle of the Djoliba (Niger) river territories, then expanding into various territories throughout Ament Kemet (West Africa) so that their culture and spirituality could be kept pure. The Dogon are not limited to just one group or geographical region in Kemet (Africa). “In the Northern part of Ghana there are people called the Dagombas, Dagombas are Dogon people too. You see we have Dogons in Ghana, Dogons in Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, in Benin it's a huge community so we have different kinds of people that are part of the same roots.”
The Dogon are one of the most studied cultures in the world, they are often known among academia for their knowledge of astronomy and their link to the Septet (Sirius) star (also known as Dog or Sothis Star). However, the Dogon bloodlines hold an immense knowledge of all subjects depending on the field and specialty of the specific bloodline. The bloodlines exist within the ethnic groups of the Gourmantche, Chibisi, Dogomba, Farafara, Sonike, Germa, and others.
A few of the Dogon bloodline names and their fields of expertise are: Naba(healers/priests/astronomers), Woba (farmers), Yonlis (guardians of the kingship), Kediou (builders), Mende (blacksmiths) and many others.
